With the April 22nd migration of webCommerce sites located on the AU datacenter, we have completed the transition of all sites to the new rendering engine. During this transition, all sites had the option of switching back to the old rendering engine in case they have encountered any backwards compatibility problems. Overall, the transition process has run smoothly, with almost no incidents. At this point, less than 0.5% of live sites have switched back to the old rendering engine, for various reasons.
To move on with the decommissioning of the old rendering engine, on May 28th, we are going to remove the option to switch back from the admin user interface, while still keeping those 0.5% of sites on the old rendering engine for additional testing and to make sure any backwards compatibility problems are addressed.
Partners will still be able to transfer a site back to the old rendering engine by contacting the Business Catalyst support team and describing the problems that triggered the request to switch back. The site will be switched back to the old engine, but in the same time we will work on correcting any problems. We anticipate that the cut-over date for the old rendering engine will be around mid-June. At that point, all the sites will be transferred on the new engine with no option to switch back as the entire infrastructure will be decommissioned.
Thank you,
The Adobe Business Catalyst team
